Modern World
Broken Countries

"A journey through former Soviet countries and their architecture, interpreted symbolically. On the one hand, the photographs allude to the former “societal model of the future,” which is reflected in the buildings; on the other hand, they can be read as a snapshot of the current state of these countries. In doing so, the photographs achieve a cinematic and narrative quality that transcends the documentary format.

The exhibition is complemented by the documentary film “Sanatorium Druzhba,” which uses the eponymous building as a starting point for exploring Crimea after its annexation by Russia."
